Know Your Value Conference Presented By:
On May 16, 2014 Mika Brzezinski hosted the First Annual “Know Your Value” Conference for Women in Hartford. The event, which featured both Mika and Gayle King, was produced by Duby McDowell of McDowell Jewett Communications and Diane Smith of Diane Smith Media. The conference expanded on the message of Mika’s book, Knowing Your Value, which explores how women recognize and attain ‘their worth’. Five hundred of Connecticut’s most interesting women attended the conference, eager to hear from Mika, Gayle, and other influential women who made up the three inspirational panels. The day’s discussions focused on various obstacles women face professionally and personally, self-imposed and otherwise, and how to overcome them.
Mika shared her own struggles and successes asking for her worth, and urged other women to take action, stop apologizing, and negotiate for what they deserve. The conference also featured a “Show Your Value” pitch contest; five finalists gave their “live” pitch live as to why they deserve a bonus. The winner of the competition received a $10,000 bonus, and the four runners-up received $2,000.
After a fast-paced day of panel discussions, giveaways, live competition and amazing ‘swag bags’, attendees expressed their enthusiasm for all they took away from the conference.
